Pass the Paxil, please.

January 23, 2010

I know there is all of the “research” and “science” that talks about exercise giving those endorphins  that make you want to tap dance on the top of the empire state building, but this week I did a little impromptu research of my own.

This week I must have gotten a life. Don’t ask how, but it happened, and I was unable to go to yoga (but two times this entire week) and I wasn’t sleeping so I was cranky and my immune system was failing. Also, I died.  Lies. I didn’t die. Too obvious. In all seriousness, lack of yoga and lack of sleep in my life made me very anxious, tired, cranky and opened up my immune system to that opportunistic head cold that has been hanging around and threatening me for the last 3 weeks. Bastard. Why can’t you just let me live!?

I did sneak a yoga class in on Wednesday at Sankalpah and it was heaven. Was the class anything earth shattering? No, but my entire life hurt so bad that even a little yoga was like a all-curing salve. Additionally, I had forgotten how quaint Sankalpah is. One of the studio’s founders’ (or the founder) mom does the check in, and she’s adorable. What could be sweeter? Oh, yes, the fact that the class was only $5. For just $5 dollars you can go to the quick fix there through the end of January. It is essentially an open level class that only runs one hour.

Well, it’s Saturday and hopefully I’ve made my peace with the fact that I hardly did any yoga. I’ll just have to do EXTRA next week. Good thing I can do corpse pose in my sleep. It’s highly efficient for trying to cram yoga into every nook and cranny of your life.

I have to read your posts out loud to Kellianne because they are so funny. Yes, even the bad mood posts. And 2 yogas a week is bad? What’s your norm? Can you post a chart with days and x’es for going to yoga so we can get the general frequency picture a little better. Thanks cuz-in-law.

Only ask, and you shall receive from the Dharma Chameleon…2 yogas a week for me is pretty saddening. Coupled with little to no sleep, and it was my personal hell. I only felt good during and right after the few classes that I did. As for the chart to guide you through my yoga addiction…you know I’m technologically challenged, so prepare yourself for yet another Microsoft Paint rendering.
