Of Pigs and Bollywood

November 12, 2009

The holidays are coming faster than you can say

sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ, sarve santu nirāmayāḥ, sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu, mā kaścit duḥkha bhāgbhavet, and in case you were wondering what to get the yogi who has everything including swine flu, I happened across these delightful little figurines, each depicting a precious piggy posed in a purifying position. Porcelain calls for alliteration.

I was so. very. briefly. back in the proverbial yoga saddle last week and it felt really incredibly excellent, although I imagine I looked a little more like these three guys than I’d like to admit. And then I got the flu.

But! My brief foray back into the world of not being lazy [as a component of survival! did I mention the flu?] allowed me to go for the second time to what I can now say is one of my favorite classes I’ve come across in my brief yoga journey. ISHTA, Friday evening, 6pm: Rajiv. Seriously. Go. The man will make jokes, he will use the most medical terminology you will ever hear in one hour of yoga, AND THEN HE WILL SING TO YOU like you are all the starlets of your own personal Bollywood movies. Let us just say he knows his audience.
